The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) joined the United Nations (UN) call on the International Day for Tolerance, annually observed on November 16, to express its ongoing commitment in applying the principles of tolerance declared by the UN and the United Arab Emirates Minister of State for Tolerance Office.
On this occasion, Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Humaid Al-Nuaimi, Chairman of Ajman Tourism Development Department, said: "The value of tolerance stems from our culture and national identity, and our commitment comes to emphasize our loyalty and faith into the values of our country which reflects our noble ethics, humanitarian and religious values. We thank our wise leaders for the establishment of the Ministry of Tolerance, that put all our hands together to expand its framework and reach all the communities in order to build a better future, not only in the UAE but the whole Arab countries and the world.”
HE Faisal Al Nuaimi, General Manager of ATDD, said: "I take this opportunity to express the importance of tolerance in the world, and the noble human value that shows the true face of our religion and to enhance its image in the whole world, and to highlight the value of coexistence and acceptance of others, and openness to cultures and different civilizations and religions in the UAE. Positive interaction is the best evidence to ensure intrinsic stability that the people in the UAE feel. And we hope on this occasion we can show that tolerance is an essential guarantee for co-existence between individuals and respect for human rights.”
The employees at the ATDD also joined the call by expressing their virtual ethics and commitment to the tolerance standards. Saud Abdulazis Al Jasmi, Section Head of Events at ATDD said: “The cornerstone of any civilized society is tolerance, many of us don’t know the true meaning of tolerance; tolerance can be considered as part of the Golden Rule. If we want others to treat us kindly, we should do the same to others. We can fulfill our ambitions through acceptance of others, when we listen to other’s opinions which are part of our culture, we realize that our society is civilized and apply the true meaning of tolerance, and based on that the community can co-exist with different cultures and religions."
Sultan Ali Al-Nuaimi, Head of the Inspection Department, said: “Tolerance enhancement and domestic and international coexistence come from the direction of our wise leadership and the well established standards that describe the people of UAE. In order to support these noble values, we need to work on implementing them and strive hard to put them into all our actions, whether through our participation in international events or through our services to the public in tourism sector, which role is to enhance happiness and tolerance with each other as well.”
Aysha Rashid Hamrani, Internal Auditor, commented: "Tolerance has more than one meaning and can be expressed in more than one way. From my point of view tolerance is a mutual respect between different cultures, different religions. The United Arab Emirates is a tolerant country, and this has been reflected in the state accession, ranked third in the national culture index which is associated to the degree of tolerance in 2016, where all people live in different communities and cultures in one single state. "
Jawaher Salem Matrooshi, Director of Support Services Department, said: “Our department works under the general directions of the state, in terms of abiding with the national program of tolerance and highlighting the international standard of UAE as a tolerant country, in order to achieve the vision and mission and goals of the department, and fulfill the strategic vision of the Emirate of Ajman in creating a happy tolerant society."
Hamda Sultan Al Matrooshi, Director of Strategy and Performance development said: “The United Arab Emirates became a leader in representing the value of tolerance which is embodied in the embracement of hundreds of nationalities with different religions and cultures to live together with love, affection and peace. Our country believes that tolerance is a source of stability, security and sustainable development of nations and peoples.
