Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has allocated AED13 million to scholarships and financial aid for the second semester of the academic year 2018-2019, which will begin on 24 February. The scholarship amount has benefited around 1,700 financially challenged students.
ADU’s Scholarships and Financial Aid Fund has eased the financial burden of more than 8,643 students through contributing over AED151 million since the University’s inception in 2003.
H.E. Dr. Ali Saeed Bin Harmal Al Dhaheri, Chairman of ADU’s Board of Directors, stressed, “The University's interest lies in providing education, spreading knowledge, and encouraging students by offering a wide range of scholarships and financial assistance programs. At the helm of ADU’s scholarship and financial aid programs is the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed’s Scholarship, which is a comprehensive scholarship that aims to encourage students to excel academically. The scholarship also attracts outstanding students from across the country to a world class education environment.”
“These scholarships and financial aid programs are the outcome of the instructions of the UAE’s wise leadership and the University’s sense of social responsibility. ADU’s primary role is not limited to merely providing education; it extends to finding flexible and innovative ways to help pay for that education. We provide not only educational and support services for academically exceptional students, but also facilitate the funding and assistance to help them acquire the education that will later qualify them for fields that are both innovative and creative,” he added.
ADU’s Scholarship and Financial Aid programs include the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Scholarship, the President’s Scholarship, the University Scholarship, the Academic Scholarship, the Athletic Scholarship, the Alumni Scholarship, and the Family Tuition Waiver.
The H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed scholarship is offered to only 20 students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in school for the duration of four years or upon graduation, whichever is sooner. As well as tuition fees, this scholarship covers application fees, registration fees, and health insurance. The President’s Scholarship is available to students with an average grade of 97% during the last three years of secondary education. This scholarship covers 100% of tuition fees and university fees.
The University Scholarship is available to first year students who graduate from secondary school with academic distinction and enroll in ADU within two years of graduation. The Academic Scholarship is available to continuing students who maintain a minimum Grade Point Average of 3.60 for two consecutive semesters and may cover up to 20%of their tuition fees. For students with outstanding athletic abilities, the Athletic Scholarship provides up to 25% off their tuition fees.
ADU’s scholarships provide high achieving, but financially challenged students with financial aid that ranges from 10% to 40% discount on study fees. Interested students can apply to the University’s scholarship office and applications will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
ADU currently has over 7,600 registered students across its four campuses - Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai and Al Dhafra Region - representing over 82 different nationalities enrolled in 44 undergraduate and postgraduate programs, all with global academic accreditation. A total of 15,000 ADU graduates are working in the UAE and abroad. Registration for the spring semester is open across all ADU campuses.
