Abu Dhabi Airports receives ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation certificate

Abu Dhabi Airports has received a certificate from the Airports Council International (ACI) acknowledging Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH) accreditation level of ‘reduction’ under the ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program.

Mohammed Al Katheeri, SVP Strategy & Communications at Abu Dhabi Airports received the certificate during the ACI Asia-Pacific World Annual General Assembly, Conference and Exhibition which took place in Hong Kong, on April 3, and was attended by senior executives from the international airport industry.

Commenting on the accomplishment, Al Katheeri said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to represent Abu Dhabi Airports and receive this certificate from the ACI. We are committed to operating our airports sustainably and in a way that mitigates our impact on climate change.”

“Abu Dhabi Airports is continuously working to reduce its carbon emissions and this certificate recognizes our efforts to enhance the sustainability of our operations. Environmental responsibility is something we take very seriously and Abu Dhabi International Airport has a history of leading the region in this regard,” added Al Katheeri.

The ACI’s Airport Carbon Accreditation program provides a unique common framework and tools for active carbon management at airports, covering operational activities that contribute most to carbon emissions.

In 2011, AUH was the first airport in the Middle East and North Africa region to be ACI Airport Carbon Accredited in the “mapping” level, and the achievement of an accreditation level of ‘reduction’ recognizes Abu Dhabi Airports’ continued commitment to helping fight climate change through the management of its carbon dioxide emissions.
