A neurosurgery team helps a man live a normal life again after two surgical operations fail

A 42 year old man was diagnosed with cervical canal stenosis, a condition that occurs most often in the lower back and the neck that narrows the spaces within the spine. The tightness can pinch the spinal cord or the nerves around it, causing severe pain, tingling, or numbness in the legs, arms, or torso.

Most people with spinal stenosis live normal lives, however in the case of this man, he endured years of pain and suffering where he was unable to move his legs to live a normal life. There’s no cure for this condition, so he had to undergo not one but two surgical operations in two different hospitals in KSA. Both operations did not show any development instead, his pain worsened and he fell into depression, due to such a devastating sense of not experiencing any improvement.

After two unsuccessful operations, the patient was transferred to Aster Sanad Hospital only for physiotherapy. Subsequently a thorough evaluation by an experienced neurosurgery team, led by Dr. Fadi Alghareeb, recommended the man to undertake a third operation to release the pressure on his spinal cord. On 26th of April 2018, the man who lost all hope was convinced and proceeded with the vital operation.

Dr. Fadi commented on this success: "We at Aster Sanad are very proud of the success and the fact that we helped a man live a normal life again, this success would not have been accomplished without the great potential provided by Aster Sanad Hospital and the experienced medical team.

Dr. Fadi and his team Dr. Farrouk Raza and Dr. Ghassan Salman, conducted the decompression surgery on the cervical spinal cord. The operation turned out to be a huge success that relieved the patient from his pain. The patient underwent regular intensive physiotherapy and now can stand on his own feet with assistance and is expected to move all limbs with good improvement rate within 3 to 4 months.

With another medical accomplishment, Aster Sanad hospital and its highly specialized team aided a 42 year old man to stand on his own feet again. This comes as another successful case which not only reaffirms Aster Sanad as one of the leading healthcare conglomerates but also as the most reliable hospital in KSA.
