The Ministry of Health has set up 65 epidemiological survey centers in Makkah and at the holy sites for the safety of the pilgrims, a senior official from the ministry told Arab News here
on Friday.
“We have mobilized our resources to offer maximum safety for the guests of Allah,” Faisal Al-Zahrani, Health Ministry spokesman, said Friday. He added that the ministry has adopted preventive, curative and emergency health services in addition to its public awareness program.
He pointed out that the team of preventive health officials are manning the 15 land, sea and air entry points in the western province to check the health condition of the pilgrims who are arriving from various parts of the world.
“There is a central command center which would receive and coordinate actions with other relevant organizations for immediate implementation of plans regarding any outbreak of diseases.
In a statement on Wednesday, Health Minister Khalid Al-Falih reassured citizens, residents and pilgrims that the health situation of pilgrims is good, and no epidemic or pandemic cases have been detected among them so far.
Al-Falih said that his ministry takes the preventive aspect of any disease as one of its top priorities, and keeps abreast of the latest developments and changes in health domain, locally and internationally, in collaboration and coordination with the World Health Organization and the international health authorities, such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The minister pointed out that the MoH has made all technical preparations for the Haj season in en endeavor to maintain the health and safety of pilgrims and ensure for them an appropriate, healthy environment.
