Next year the Middle East region’s solar industry will have a new platform: The industry’s leading international exhibition is coming to Dubai. From 19 – 21 September 2016, Intersolar Middle East will take place in conjunction with GulfSol. The organisers of the current GulfSol event, dmg events Middle East and Asia, Solar Promotion International and Freiburg Marketing Management International (FMMi) are joining forces to run the new industry meeting point.
High solar irradiation, large open spaces, and growing energy demand: The Middle East is ideally located for generating renewable energy from sunlight. In order to lay the foundation for expanding solar energy, therefore it makes complete sense to launch the Intersolar Middle East Exhibition and Conference in Dubai, industry representatives and investors will meet at the Dubai World Trade Center to exchange ideas about expanding the MENA solar market.
“We feel the region is currently thriving with opportunities and the timing is perfect to partner with an experienced organisation like Solar Promotion International and Freiburg Marketing Management International (FMMi) to launch a brand like Intersolar in the region that brings a significant value to both local & international business”, said Simon Mellor, President, Middle East & Asia.
Dr. Dieter Salomon, Mayor, City of Freiburg, Germany said “We are equally delighted to be partnering with the Middle East’s leading exhibition organiser dmg events Middle East & Asia, together we look forward to create a serious platform for the MENA regions solar industry to meet under one roof.”
There is an experienced trio of organisers behind the Intersolar Middle East brand. Solar Promotion International and FMMi, organisers of the world-wide Intersolar exhibition series, have been active in the Gulf region for three years, including with the 2014 Intersolar Summit Middle East in Riyadh. In addition, dmg events Middle East and Asia, organiser of some of the leading events in the region which includes The Big 5 and ADIPEC, is on board. dmg events Middle East is also the organiser of GulfSol event, which is currently taking place for the second time in Dubai in conjunction with the Global Solar Leaders Summit.
In 2014, a record number of solar projects were awarded in the Middle East with a combined capacity of 294 MW, a four-fold increase over the previous seven years combined. In 2015, we will see the solar market in the MENA region reach a new level of growth, with over 1,500 MW worth of solar projects expected to be tendered over the next 12 months, as quoted by MESIA.
