Gautam Sashittal, CEO of King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD), said the six-station monorail will be operational by 2026, Al Eqtisadiah newspaper reported.
He explained that the KAFD’s mobility strategy is based on the 10-minute city concept, where everything is a 10-minute walk away, facilitated by over 40 pedestrian pathways linking all buildings, including the metro station within KAFD.
Sashittal mentioned that the financial center collaborates with top global operators and developers to invest in digital infrastructure that integrates data, systems, and AI applications. This initiative aims to enhance the smart city experience through the use of new technologies.
KAFD invested in a strategic roadmap with 48 initiatives incorporating cutting-edge technology, from virtual reality to the Internet of Things.
The technologies include a digital infrastructure that supports city management, security, smart buildings, energy management, smart mobility, waste management, and data-driven governance, aiming to address urban challenges and improve the quality of life, the CEO added.
