Dubai Culture & Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the Emirate's dedicated entity for culture, arts, heritage and literature, has launched its annual ‘Our Summer is Art & Culture’ programme, organised by Dubai Public Library and lasting till 9th August.
The programme’s first-week activities — taking place in Hor Al Anz, Hatta and Umm Suqeim — feature a variety of educational activities that focus on creativity and innovation through a number of workshops, covering subjects like Physical Programming, Creative Computing, Build and invent with a Droid, Verbal and non-verbal Communication, Program a Rolling Robot, and Think before speaking - Interpersonal skills. In addition, there will be reading workshops that aim to encourage children and improve their scientific research and writing skills.
The programme is designed for children between the ages of 6 to 12, and aims to develop their literary and artistic skills, writing and reading. This will help children take advantage of their holiday while enjoying various activities — available in both Arabic and English — to enliven their summer vacation routine.
This year's programme will include two camps: the first one will take place between 14th and 26th July from 10am to 1.30pm and from 4pm to 7.30pm, while the second one will be held during the same hours from 28th July to 9th August.
The Dubai Public Library network includes eight libraries for adults and another seven for children, some of which featuring multipurpose halls, classrooms and exhibition spaces. All branches of the Dubai Public Library are connected via computer systems, establishing close links with other modern libraries, and providing access to vast sources of information on a diversity of topics in both Arabic and English.
