Saudi Railway Company (SAR) will operate new daily train service between Riyadh and Hail as well as between Riyadh and Al-Qassim from Sunday.
Ammar Al-Nahdi, director general of marketing and communications at SAR, said the new service coincides with celebration of the first anniversary of SAR’s launching of its first train service for commuters on Feb. 26 last year. “The decision to operate new service takes into account the demands of commuters. The Riyadh –Hail train passes through Al-Majmaa and Al-Qassim. The train starts from Riyadh at 9.30 a.m. and leaves Hail at 3.25 p.m. on a return journey on a daily basis.

Al-Nahdi told the Saudi Press Agency that the company’s revised schedule also includes new morning round-trips between Riyadh and Majma and Al-Qassim every Thursday and Saturday.
SAR is a government company, fully owned by the Public Investment Fund. The company launched in 2011 a service line for heavy transport of minerals, petroleum and petrochemicals.
SAR launched the railway transportation services between Riyadh, Majmaa and Al-Qassim last February and opened Hail service in November last year.
SAR operates the 2,750-km north-south railway line to transport minerals including phosphate, bauxite, molten sulfur and phosphoric acid.
