CAREEM has successfully concluded its regional Ramadan CSR campaign across the 18 cities it operates in, providing proactive support to their local communities through proactive initiatives. ‘Be CAREEM’, was initially launched through a captivating video on social media to involve its employees, loyal customers and wider community, to help make a difference.
“We asked people what or who inspires them to BeCareem and they inspired us to jump in and make a difference,” said Mudassir Sheikha, CAREEM’s co-founder and Managing Director. “We are extremely grateful for the support shown by the communities during this Ramadan and even more so for the opportunity to have made positive impacts in so many people’s lives, across the region, together.”
The 'Be CAREEM’ campaign was focused on engaging communities to get involved with the campaign and to support initiatives that require urgent aid. CAREEM, who took their name from the meaning of the word Kareem- to be generous in Arabic, selected six initiatives to support across a selection of countries it operates in.
“The selected initiatives grabbed our attention right from the beginning of the campaign and we hope that the relevant communities will continue to support it and raise awareness about it for the betterment of all. We truly thank everybody for participating and helping us share magical moments.”
CAREEM’s compassion stretched over six countries and improved the lives of thousands:
United Arab Emirates
Over 4000 Iftars were donated to those less fortunate through Careem Giving and #FILLINGTHEBLUES, an initiative started by Moti Roti along with homegrown restaurants and bloggers to provide iftar to laborers working evening shifts. CAREEM’s employees served every meal in appreciation to a laborer for their contribution to growing the city they all share.
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
CAREEM partnered with BUPA Arabia who provided 286 boxes of used clothes to people in need. CAREEM drivers collected the clothes and delivered it to BUPA who dispatched it to local charities.
Morocco
CAREEM hosted an Iftar for 110 orphans from SOS Children’s Village El Jadida. The Iftar also included a graduation ceremony for children with outstanding performance at school where gifts, including books, were shared.
Pakistan
CAREEM hosted more than 200 SOS Village Pakistan orphans during an Iftar during which 100 pieces of school stationery kits (sketch books, notebooks, registers, markers, colored pencils) were handed out.
Egypt
Educate ME collaborated with CAREEM to provide 200 essential school kits for Egyptian children while the CAREEM staff volunteered a full day of their time to interact with the children.
Lebanon
CAREEM organized an Iftar for the orphans of Ajialuna, a Lebanese NGO that addresses issues in the local community, along with transportation to a full day’s fun in the amazing amusement park of KidzMondo where its employees spent the day with the children to have some fun together.
“These initiatives require ongoing support and hope we can continue to raise further awareness about them to provide as much support as possible. Anybody can get involved and we welcome the conversation to continue,” concluded Mudassir.
