Bayt.com, the Middle East’s number one job site, has recently conducted a series of career roadshows in top universities across the Middle East, including the Ahlia University Career Day in Jordan and GUST Career Fair in Kuwait, the Career Development Symposium at Abu Dhabi University, the Employment Fair at the British University in Egypt, the Annual Career Fair at the Caledonian College of Engineering in Oman, the Annual University of Wollonglong Career Fair, the School of Business Administration at the American University of Sharjah Career Day, the Annual RIT Dubai Career Fair, and the Annual Careers Day at Heriot-Watt University Campus in Dubai.
Thousands of students attended the free career orientation sessions given by the Bayt.com career experts. The students were provided with essential tips on how to create the perfect CV, how to answer questions during a job interview, and how to create their personal brand online. Presentations given by the Bayt.com experts provided up-to-the-minute job market data and research insights, best-in-class practices in job hunting, and the array of entry-level jobs and internships available on Bayt.com at any given time.
“At Bayt.com, we are continuously working towards empowering students and fresh graduates in the region with the right tools and knowledge to shape their future,” said Suhail Masri, VP of Employer Solutions, Bayt.com. “There are currently more than 10,000 jobs posted on the website on any given day, and by helping students and young professionals with expert advice on CV writing and the job application process in general, we are supporting them with the essential tools they need in their journey towards a successful career. We have long sustained employment growth in the region, and by training students we aim to engage and empower them, so they can build a future for themselves and for the communities they live in.”
“The February 2016 Job Index Survey by Bayt.com has revealed that 3 in 10 employers in the Middle East are looking for junior talent, so this is a good time for students and fresh graduates to hone in on their skills and start competing for top assignments with regional blue chips, as well as local SMEs and conglomerates. Our Bayt.com research has shown that barriers to employment at entry level are seen to be caused by gaps between available skills and the demands and needs of employers. As an active contributor to the region’s growth and prosperity, Bayt.com is contributing towards bridging the existing skills gap, by preparing students and young graduates for the current job market, and arming them with the skills and tools they need to grow and succeed,” Masri concluded.
This year marks 16 years of Bayt.com’s University Roadshows, which proves exceptionally relevant today, in light of the current economic conditions across the Middle East and North Africa region. With 76 per cent of students in the region saying that finding a job is the biggest challenge their generation faces, Bayt.com’s University Roadshows initiative is as important today as it was 16 years ago in helping students recognize their capabilities and understand how to highlight their skills and make them relevant, as well as assist them in tackling today’s job market effectively and successfully.
