"The second annual Riyadh Philosophy Conference builds on the success of last year’s event – the first of its kind in Saudi Arabia. It brings together leading intellectuals, philosophers, scientists, artists, astronauts, writers, and historians from Saudi Arabia and around the world to explore numerous topics within the conference’s theme of ""Knowledge and Exploration: Space, Time, and Humanity.""
The speakers and participants will take part in intercultural, international, and inter-disciplinary conversations at the convergence of science and philosophy; topics include the status of contemporary science, justice and ethics in exploration, the latest developments in technology, the dilemmas of artificial intelligence, the complexities of space diplomacy and climate change and environmental crises. Pioneering discussions at the conference will assess how these and other issues will shape the future of humanity.
The conference is open for anyone to attend, and welcoming of all age groups, including children. In addition to plenary sessions there will be numerous innovative activations. These include:
Philosopher’s Café: an interactive space allowing participants to discuss philosophical topics with speakers to deepen understanding and expand insights
Philosophers of Tomorrow: A pavilion area for children and young adults to be involved in the practical questions relating to philosophy and critical thinking through workshops and activities.
Philosophical Camp: A programme of outdoors sessions designed for college students to encourage dialogue about philosophical issues.
Reading Between the Lines: A debating tournament where four trained teams of college students will debate philosophical arguments, with the winning team being announced at the Conference’s closing session. "
